Composer and performer Andreas A. Artemis is preparing to present his new multi-form musical performance entitled “Heart of the Wind” in Paphos in June, a production that combines music, poetry and live narration, highlighting the creator’s timeless relationship with musical expression.

The performance will be presented on Friday, June 19 at the Chlorakas “Vrysi” amphitheater and will be accompanied by the performers of the “Echo” Vocal Ensemble: Eleni Efstathiou, Kiki Manoli, Maro Herodotou, Erato Panagiotaki, Maria Andreadi and Niki Andreou. The narrations will be attended by journalist Kiki Pericleous and actor, poet and playwright Dinos Koumbatis, who will travel from Athens especially for the performance.

Andreas Artemis expresses his warm thanks to the Chloraka Cultural Environmental Group and especially to its president Andreas Kyriakou for the cooperation, as well as to the Chloraka Community Council, which is the main organizer of the event.

Referring to the title of the performance, the creator explains that it comes from a song from his recent album “Linoptera”. As he notes, the performance is deeply connected to love, the sea and nature, elements that are directly linked to the historical and cultural identity of Paphos as a place of worship of love and the sea since antiquity. Through songs that speak to the erotic and maritime element of the language, melodies inspired by the sound world of nature and poetic images, a multidimensional artistic result is created where poetry and music coexist harmoniously.

He emphasizes that both he and his collaborators seek to offer the audience a special experience, through interpretations and narratives that highlight the musical multicolour of the work.

Regarding his general artistic career, Andreas Artemis states that he avoids repetitions in his performances, unless there are special reasons. As a typical example, he cites the work “Polykymanti Mnimi”, dedicated to martyred Cyprus, which was presented in the last two years in Nicosia, Thessaloniki and London. As he points out, the warm response of the Greek diaspora and foreign audiences often creates the conditions for new presentations of his works.

At the same time, he reveals that two new productions abroad are planned for next autumn. The first will have a religious content, while the second will be of a Cyprus-centric nature, with more information to be expected in the near future.

He also makes special mention of the Vocal Ensemble “Echo”, which consists of his students. As a vocal teacher, he gives his students the opportunity to participate in his artistic productions, provided they wish to do so and work systematically. As he states, the space has been operating for years as a field of study, creation and joy around singing and the correct use of speech.

The composer believes that talent, dedication and mental strength are basic prerequisites for the development of a performer. He emphasizes that he creates the right conditions so that his students can excel artistically, while several have already participated in his record productions. He even invokes the well-known saying of William Blake that “He whose face does not shine, will never become a star”, pointing out that this year’s collaborators possess undeniable talent and contribute substantially to the artistic and spiritual dimension of the performances.

The presence of Dinos Koumpatis also holds a special place in the new production. Andreas Artemis notes that they are connected by many years of friendship and creative collaboration, while the performance will also feature lyrics set to music by the distinguished author. He characterizes him as a creator with a significant international presence, awards and distinctions, but also an excellent narrator, an element that is expected to add a special colour to the stage presentation.
