The Police are investigating a case of internet fraud, extortion of property with false representations and money laundering.
According to a complaint submitted to the Police by a resident of Paphos, on June 15, 2026, the complainant received a phone call on his mobile phone from an unknown person, who told him that suspicious activities had been detected in his bank account, as a result of which his account had been frozen.
The unknown person instructed the complainant to log in to his bank account through another website.
After following the instructions given to him, the complainant later found out that he had been the victim of online fraud, after unknown persons extracted the total amount of €47.406 from his account, in two separate transactions.
The Police reminds the public to be especially cautious of phone calls, emails or online communications from unknown persons asking for personal or banking details.

A 31-year-old man and two 26-year-olds were arrested yesterday by members of the Limassol Cycling Police, for the offenses of illegal possession of property and drugs.
Specifically, around 5:30 p.m. yesterday, members of the Limassol Bicycle Policing located a vehicle with three occupants stopping in an open area of Alexandrias Street in Limassol, and then the driver of the vehicle throwing an unknown object under it.
The members of the Bicycle Policing approached the driver, where it was found that he was a 31-year-old, while from examinations carried out, a glass smoking vessel containing traces of methamphetamine was found under the car and he was arrested for a flagrante delicto.
In the possession of the 31-year-old, a purse containing six wristwatches, various valuables, traces of methamphetamine, etc., was found, for which he did not give sufficient explanations as to the legality of their possession and he was re-arrested for a flagrante delicto.
In a search carried out on the two 26-year-old occupants of the vehicle, a quantity of cannabis was found in their possession and they were arrested for a flagrante delicto, while in a search carried out inside the vehicle, a small amount of cocaine was found.
It is noted that a number of objects found in the possession of the 31-year-old (two watches) are the product of a burglary which was reported last month at the Pissouri Police Station, while as for one of the 26-year-olds, it was found that an arrest warrant was pending against her by the Larnaca District Court.
The 31-year-old underwent a preliminary drug test with a positive indication.

The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.
As a result of the preventive police operations, 10 persons were arrested for offenses such as, impersonation, illegal stay, identity verification, joint attack, illegal possession of duty-free tobacco products, etc.
As part of these operations, during the night, 554 drivers and 168 passengers were stopped and checked. At the same time, 39 inspections of premises were carried out, with the aim of dealing with phenomena of delinquency, where four complaints emerged.
During traffic checks carried out, 291 complaints were made, concerning various traffic violations, while 8 investigated cases of traffic violations also emerged.
Of the complaints made, 95 complaints from drivers for exceeding the speed limit stand out, while as part of the police examinations, 9 vehicles were detained. 105 alcohol tests were carried out, from which seven complaints emerged, while two drivers tested positive in preliminary drug tests.
Policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue daily, with an increased/enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing the sense of security of citizens/protecting citizens and ensuring public order.

A robbery against a food delivery man took place around 11.45 last night.
According to the Police, a 31-year-old food delivery man was riding a motorcycle in an area in Episkopi, for delivery of a food order, having a second person as a passenger.
On the way, they were approached by three people, who had their faces covered with hoods and under the threat of knives, they stole their motorcycle, a sum of money and three of their mobile phones.
Members of the Police went to the area for examinations.

The Police are investigating a case of attempted murder, in the province of Famagusta, after four people were injured during a fight, outside a nightclub. To facilitate the investigations, a 21-year-old man was arrested.
Around 4.30 a.m. today, members of the Police responded to an incident in Ayia Napa, following reports of a fight outside a nightclub. Upon arrival at the scene, they found four injured.
They are 22-year-old, 25-year-old and 41-year-old, who had injuries possibly from a knife, as well as a second 22-year-old, who had head injuries.
The 21-year-old alleged perpetrator of Israeli origin was also found at the scene, who, according to a testimony obtained, allegedly injured the first three, while according to the first examinations, the second 22-year-old was allegedly with the 21-year-old.
The police approached the 21-year-old, who insulted them, as a result of which he was arrested for the spontaneous offenses of public insult, causing concern and disturbing the peace.
The four injured were taken to the General Hospital of Famagusta where they were detained for treatment. The health condition of the 22-year-old, who has injuries from a sharp object, is considered serious, while the 25-year-old and the 41-year-old have minor injuries. The second 22-year-old was also kept for treatment with head and face injuries.
The three injured are Cypriots while the fourth injured is an Israeli, a friend of the alleged perpetrator.
