AKAMAS BEACH FILLED WITH GARBAGE FROM TURKEY - Pafos Press 15/6
Images of environmental shame were recorded by PafosPress readers at Mavri beach, in Akamas, where large quantities of garbage, plastics and microplastics have covered the coast and areas near the sea.
Among the waste was found a plastic box with the inscriptions "MERSIN" and "KOM. EVİ", elements that refer to Mersin in Turkey and reinforce the assessment that the garbage was likely transported from the opposite coast or by boats moving in the area.
The image is heartbreaking for one of the most sensitive and beautiful areas of Cyprus, highlighting the serious problem of marine pollution in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The photos that reached PafosPress capture a situation that cannot go unnoticed.
