The Civil Defense Force reminds that from June 2, 2026, the Early Warning System of the Population – CY-Alert will be put into operation, through which citizens will be informed immediately and in real time about emergencies and disasters.
The aim of CY-Alert is to promptly notify the population in the affected areas, so that they can take the necessary measures to protect their lives and property.
In order to control the System in a real operating environment, in the period from 2 to 15 June 2026, test alerts will be sent to mobile phones that will emit a signal at the predetermined locations. The notifications will be accompanied by the characteristic intense sound and vibration and will indicate the indication "TEST – TEST – TEST" or "EXERCISE – EXERCISE – EXERCISE". Notifications that will bear the above indication are not real and do not require the citizens to take any action.
Specifically, the schedule of test alert missions is as follows:
Tuesday, June 2, 2026, between the hours of 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Communities of Pissouri and Moniati.
Tuesday, June 2, 2026, between the hours of 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.: Psevda Community.
Sunday, June 7, 2026, between the hours of 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.: Communities of Argaka, Avgorou and Oras.
Wednesday, June 10, 2026, between the hours of 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.: Communities of Foini and Kalopanayiotis.
Monday, June 15, 2026, between the hours of 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.: Pancyprian notification for missing person.
It is reiterated that during the above days the notifications will be sent on a trial basis to the affected or neighbouring Communities.
In order to receive the CY-Alert notifications, citizens must activate the corresponding settings on their devices. For guidance on the settings on their mobile phones, citizens can contact 1450. Instructions on how to activate the alerts are also available in videos on the official social media accounts of the Civil Defence.
