The multinational civil-military cooperation exercise "Argonaut 2026" is being held from May 11 to 15, 2026 in the Republic of Cyprus, as announced by the Ministry of Defence.
According to the announcement, the exercise will take place in three phases and will cover the sea, air and land space of the Republic of Cyprus, including the FIR and the EEZ.
The planning, execution and general coordination of the exercise is carried out by the National Guard, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Search and Rescue Coordination Center.
A large number of government services, as well as personnel and aeronautical assets of the Republic of Cyprus and other states will participate in the exercise.
In the context of the exercise, the Special National Plans "ESTIA" and "TEFKROS" will be tested. The two plans concern, respectively, the reception of civilians from neighbouring war areas and the response to Search and Rescue incidents within the area of responsibility of the Republic of Cyprus.
The exercise will also be attended by observers from other countries.
