THE HIO TAKES OVER THE GESY SOFTWARE

THE HIO TAKES OVER THE GESY SOFTWARE - Filenews 30/5

The governance and coordination of the Information System (IT) and the other Business Processes of the GHS is undertaken by the Health Insurance Organization (HIO) as of June 1, 2026, following coordinated and intensive efforts, as stated in a relevant announcement.

The undertaking of the above, it is added, takes place following the imminent expiration, on May 31, 2026, of the Agreement maintained by the HIO with the company NCR (Cyprus) Ltd. The Organization now exercises its right to transfer ownership and management of the project to itself, which derives from the terms of the existing contract.
This development is an important operational achievement for the HIO and the GHS, as it enables the Organization to manage and coordinate with greater immediacy and efficiency the operation and future development of the HIO and the other business processes of the GHS.

By assuming the governance and coordination of the above, the HIO ensures:
-the ownership of the project;
-the strengthening of the management and control of the DB and the other business processes of the GHS,
-direct operational cooperation and coordination with companies that will continue to provide services, without intermediaries,
-the independence from a single economic operator in relation to the overall management of the CC and the other business processes of the GHS.

It is noted that, in the context of the Organization's effort for a smooth transition to the new regime and with a view to ensuring the smooth operation of the CC, all services related to its operations, as well as the relevant business processes, will continue to be provided by the existing economic operators, without any change in the way these services are provided.

The previous Contractor of the project, who until recently had the role of both the project coordinator and the service provider, will continue, as of 1 June 2026, to participate in the project as one of the economic operators that will provide services to the Organization for the GHS and the other business processes of the GHS.

The HIO emphasizes that the transition to the new governance structure is carried out in an organized and controlled manner, having as non-negotiable priorities on the one hand the protection of the public interest and on the other hand ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the GHS and the effective service of beneficiaries and providers.
