While the repair procedures in two of the three buildings in Paphos that were deemed the most dangerous for their occupants are progressing, in the case of the third building, its evacuation stumbles to date on the lack of a court order. In particular, the Police informed the Paphos EOA, which sent a relevant letter, that the intervention of the Police in the apartment building in the Paphos shopping center for its evacuation due to danger, requires a court order that has not been secured.
Following this development, the president of EOA Paphos, Charalambos Pittokopitis, convened a meeting for tomorrow, Friday, at the Organization with the participation of the Police and other co-competent state departments and services in order to study the next moves.
Mr. Pittokopitis stressed that for a second apartment building that had also been characterized as urgent to evacuate, a study submitted by a civil engineer on behalf of the tenants for its repair is being evaluated, while managers of other premises informed that they are already proceeding with works and measures to deal with the problems identified in order to remove the danger of these buildings.
