The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announces that today, Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 13:45, a fire broke out at the "Agiasmos" location of the community of Ineia, Paphos district.
Due to the timely detection, by the electro-optical forest fire detection and surveillance system of the Department of Forests and the immediate intervention of the forest firefighting forces, it resulted in the fire being brought under control at 14:20, after burning a small area with low vegetation. In the extinguishing operation, 6 people from the Department of Forests participated with 2 fire trucks.
A little later, the Department of Forests announced that at 15:15, a fire broke out, in the location "Faraklos" of the community of Neo Chorio, in the province of Paphos.
The fire was brought under control at 15:40, after burning a small area with garbage and low vegetation. In the extinguishing operation, 5 people from the Department of Forests participated with 1 fire truck.
The causes of the two fires are being investigated.
