The creation of the "Routes of the Olive Tree" route in the Paphos region is in full swing by the Paphos authorities, which is expected to be integrated into the wider route connecting various European countries.
Already, since the summer of 2025, executives of the European Network OTRoutes have visited several points throughout the province as part of the general evaluation process. The executives from the route management organization expressed their complete satisfaction with the proposed locations and points of interest, while they did not hide their great enthusiasm for the destination.
The proposed route covers all the Municipalities of the Paphos district, about 30 communities and a distance of more than 170 kilometers in which one can tour in its entirety or fragmentarily depending on one's interests. Interests along the route vary as they include, in addition to points of interest related to the olive tree, monasteries and churches, archaeological sites, museums, viewpoints, creative workshops and more.
This tour is mainly aimed at individual visitors who can either go by their own means of transport, or by rented minibus or taxi, since public transport cannot yet serve the countryside and for this purpose.
Through the cultural route "Routes of the Olive Tree", local authorities estimate that Paphos will further enrich the cultural value and highlight internationally another aspect of the product and experiences, mainly of its countryside, to be promoted thanks to the participation in an initiative with international acceptance and recognition that has been declared "Cultural Route of the Council of Europe" and "World Cultural Route of Intercultural Dialogue and Sustainable Development" of UNESCO, to receive visibility and participate in scientific activities such as seminars, workshops, workshops.
In the next period, the final design of the route will proceed, its recording on electronic maps and other means will begin, so that it will slowly take shape and be included within the year in the quiver of experiences offered by Paphos.
