MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Famagusta-Larnaca-Larnaca Airport Motorway
On the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni Motorway, in the Larnaca district, in both directions, during the period 07/05/2026-30/06/2026, except Fridays, Weekends and Holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, works will be carried out by the Forestry Department, for pruning and watering plants on the slopes. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout will be closed, in sections of 300 meters each time from both directions successively.
On the Larnaca Airport-Ayia Napa motorway, in both directions, including its interchanges, from Tuesday 19/05/2026 to Wednesday 10/06/2026, daily except Sundays and public holidays, between the hours of 08:30–16:30, grass cutting, collection and removal works will be carried out. During the works on the motorway, from Larnaca Airport to the exit to Xylotymvos, in both directions (successively), including its interchanges, part of the shoulder will be closed in sections.
On sections of the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway, from the "Airport" roundabout to the "Agia Napa" roundabout, from 21 May 2026 to 05 June 2026, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 the next morning, weekdays except Public Holidays, Fridays and Weekends, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the right lane, adjacent to the central island of the motorway, will be closed simultaneously in both directions, at approximately fifteen different points.
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway
On the motorway, from Monday 18/05/2026 to Friday 22/05/2026, daily between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, pruning work will be carried out on the central island. During the works, the right lane will be closed in both directions for a length of approximately 2000 m each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
On the central island of the motorway, from Monday 25/05/2026 to Friday 29/05/2026, daily between the hours of 08:30–16:30, pruning work will be carried out on the central island. During the works, the right lane adjacent to the central island will be partially closed in both directions for a length of approximately 2000 m each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway
On sections of the motorway, from 06 April 2026 to 28 May 2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 15:00 and then 19:00 to 05:30 the next morning, daily except Fridays, Weekends and Holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the right lane of the motorway will be closed, from the "Rizoelias" roundabout up to approximately 3km before its connection with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, successively for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at six different points.
Nicosia Perimeter Motorway
On the central island of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway from the Lakatamia Industrial Area junction to its connection with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, from Tuesday 19 May 2026, until Friday 29 May 2026 from 8:30 in the morning until 4:30 in the afternoon, grass removal works will be carried out. During the works, the right lane will be closed to traffic for a length of (3) three kilometers and traffic will be conducted in one lane.
Limassol Bypass
On the Limassol Bypass and the Paphos-Limassol Motorway, tree and shrub maintenance works will be carried out on the central island, during which the right lane will be partially closed in both directions for a length of approximately 1500 m and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. The works will be carried out as follows:
(a) During the period 04/05/2026 – 30/06/2026 between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00 outside Kyraki, in the section from Erimis Interchange to Petra tou Romiou.
(b) On Saturdays 23/05/2026, 30/05/2026 and 06/06/2026, between the hours of 06:00 – 13:00, on the section of the Paphos-Limassol motorway, from the Erimi junction to the new Port roundabout.
Limassol-Paphos Motorway
On the Paphos-Limassol motorway and the Limassol bypass road, tree and shrub maintenance work will be carried out on the central island, during which the right lane in both directions will be partially closed for a length of approximately 1500 m and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. The work will be carried out as follows:
(a) During the period 04/05/2026 – 30/06/2026 between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00 outside Kyraki, on the section from Erimis junction to Petra tou Romiou.
(b) On Saturdays 23/05/2026, 30/05/2026 and 06/06/2026, between the hours of 06:00 – 13:00, on the section of the Paphos-Limassol motorway, from Erimis junction to the New Port roundabout.
On the section of the motorway between Paphos and Episkopi in both directions, from 11/05/2026 until the end of May, cleaning works will be carried out on the dividing island. During the works, the right lane will be closed in both directions, towards Limassol and towards Paphos.
Nicosia District
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are being carried out from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long. and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.
In Strovolos, at the intersection of Theofilos Georgiadis Street and Tseriou Avenue, on Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 07:00 in the morning until 13:00 in the afternoon, asphalt works will be carried out, as part of the Improvement / Construction Project of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and part of Tseriou Avenue. During the works, traffic in the direction towards Tseri and/or Latsia will be carried out with anti-clockwise movements through Vasilissis Amalias, Theofilos Georgiadis, Ergatikatis, and Produktikotis streets until the intersection of the latter with Tseriou Avenue. Traffic in the direction towards Strovolos will be carried out normally, through Tseriou Avenue, in two (2) traffic lanes.
Limassol District
In Limassol, on Nikos and Despinas Pattihi Avenue, during the period from Wednesday 29/04/2026 to Friday 29/05/2026, between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00, horizontal marking, manhole lifting and related works will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic in each direction will be closed in sections and traffic will be diverted through the other lane, using appropriate temporary road markings.
In the Agios Athanasios area, on Anikodomiseos Street, from Tuesday 12/05/2026 to Sunday 31/05/2026 from 21:00 p.m. to 05:30 a.m. of the next day, daily, horizontal marking and bicycle lane marking work will be carried out. During the work, one lane of approximately 100 m. in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.
In the municipal boundaries of the Municipality of Limassol and the Municipality of Amathus, on the Coastal Front, from Monday 25/05/2026 until Friday 29/05/2026, asphalt paving work will be carried out. During the work, the following regulations will apply:
· On Monday 25/05/2026 and Tuesday 26/05/2026 from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 the next morning, from the intersection of Panagiotis Tsangaris Street with the Coastal Road to the intersection of Christakis Kranos Street with the Coastal Road, the Northbound lanes of the Coastal Road will be closed. Traffic from West to East will be diverted via Panagiotis Tsangaris, Methanas and Christakis Kranos streets. Traffic from East to West will operate normally
· On Wednesday 27/05/2026 from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 in the morning of Thursday 28/05/2026 from the intersection of Christakis Kranou Street with the Coastal Front until the intersection of Panagiotis Tsangari Street with the Coastal Front, the South lanes of the Coastal Front will be closed. Traffic from East to West will be via Chr. Kranou, Methana and Panagiotis Tsangari streets. Traffic from West to East will be carried out normally
· On Thursday 28/05/2026 from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 in the morning of Friday 29/05/2026, from the intersection of Commandarias Street with the Coastal Road to the intersection of Georgiou Katsounotou Street with the Coastal Road, the Northbound lanes of the Coastal Road will be closed. Traffic from West to East will be through the Southbound lanes of the Coastal Road, which will operate in two-way traffic, until the end of the works. The descent to the Coastal Road from Anexartisias Street will be closed and vehicles will enter the Coastal Road via Christodoulou Sozou Street
Larnaca District
In Oroklini, within the framework of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Coastal Road of Larnaca - Dhekelia Phase C”, from Friday 27/03/2026, the Approximately 400m of the southern lanes of the Coastal Road will be opened to traffic and will operate in two-way traffic with the use of appropriate signage. In addition, from Friday 27/03/2026 and for three months, a section of Galaxia Street in Oroklini will remain closed, from the height of Fotis Pitta Street to Vachamon Street, and traffic will be diverted via Vachamon, Elpidos and Fotis Pitta Streets in Oroklini.
Also in Oroklini, as part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from Monday 27/04/2026 and for two months, in Oroklini, a section of approximately 200m of Mesopotamias Street, from the height of the Radisson Beach Hotel to the Organized Oroklini Beach will remain closed, and access will be provided via Oceanias and Afroditis Streets in Oroklini.
In Larnaca, on Dimitras Street, also within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, in the period 14/04/2026-22/05/2026, construction works will be carried out for new pedestrian crossings, construction of a sidewalk and green spaces. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 330 meters in length, and due to the Works, Dimitras Street will be one-way from the roundabout by the tennis courts towards Archbishop Makariou Avenue and Apollonos Street will be one-way from its junction with Kikas Street and Froso Sountia Street towards Dimitras Street. Traffic from Archbishop Makariou Avenue to Dimitras Street will be diverted via Archbishop Kyprianou Avenue or Kostis Palamas Street to Kilkis Street using appropriate road markings.
In Larnaca, on Dimitras Street, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 18/05/2026-18/06/2026, works will be carried out to replace a pipe culvert and construct sidewalks. The works will be carried out on Dimitras Street, from its junction with Archbishop Makariou Avenue, in a section of approximately 200 meters in length. During the works, the above section will remain closed to traffic. As for the remaining section of Dimitras Street, approximately 150 meters long, from the roundabout to the tennis courts, this will be converted into a dead end and entry will only be allowed to business customers. Similarly, Apollonos Street, from its junction with Kikas and Froso Sountia Streets to Dimitras Street, will be converted into a dead end and entry will only be allowed to residents of the area.
In Larnaca, on Artemis Avenue, in a section of approximately 100 meters in length, near the old G.S.Z., within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 18/05/2026-01/06/2026, construction works of ramps and green spaces will be carried out. During the works, the right lane will be closed in both directions, and traffic will be directed to the left lane using appropriate and approved road markings.
On the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the area from Stavrovouni to Kofinou, from Thursday 14/05/2026 to Friday 22/05/2026, excluding weekends, from 07:00 in the morning until 15:00, periodic maintenance work will be carried out on the road surface, for a length of approximately 3km. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections (100 meters at a time) and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using stop&go and appropriate signage.
Also, on the old Nicosia-Limassol road, in the Choirokoitia area, from Monday 25/05/2025 to Wednesday 27/05/2025, between the hours of 08:00 – 17:00, the Water Development Department will carry out water supply pipeline installation works. During the works, a section of the road towards Nicosia, outside the Choirokoitia Water Refinery, will be closed for approximately 10 meters and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using STOP & GO signs.
