End of an era for the D' LUX club in the area of the port of Larnaca, which was evacuated and sealed by the Larnaca District Self-Government Organization, since it was housed in an extremely dangerous building. The action of the EOAL was announced at a working breakfast with journalists during which the president of the Organization stated that the entire building, the upper part of which is uninhabited, has been sealed. According to Mr. Hatzicharalambous, parties were organized in the area of the club, in which fencing was placed.


Meanwhile, after the Madona Court apartment building in Faneromeni, an evacuation notice will be given, early next week, in another with 17 apartments in Chrysopolitissa, but also 4 more (3 in the settlement of Agioi Anargyroi II and 1 in Agios Ioannis). The latter are part of the KtiZO program and their tenants will be handled by the Ministry of Interior.



As for the six-storey Madona Court apartment building, it was found that 40 people live in it, who will have to leave the area by tomorrow. As the president of EOAL stated, social workers of the Municipality of Larnaca are in contact with the tenants and those who have no alternative will be transferred to hotels.



In total, as he mentioned, 889 potentially dangerous buildings were identified throughout the province of Larnaca. In the Municipality of Larnaca, 427 were detected, in the Municipality of Aradippou 23, in the Municipality of Lefkara 80, in the Municipality of Dromolaxia Meneou 34, in the Municipality of Athienou 12 and in the community clusters 313.


According to Mr. Hadjicharalambous, 150 buildings have been given to private individuals for visual inspection and 100 visual inspections have been returned. From the visual inspections, 23 residential and 40 uninhabited buildings have been judged with a visible risk of collapse and fall within the urban fabric of Larnaca.



Mr. Hadjicharalambous reiterated that the responsibility lies with the owners of the buildings, calling on them to comply with the instructions.
