RAINS, STORMS AND STRONG WINDS- THE MERCURY REACHES 31 DEGREES - HOW THE WEATHER WILL DEVELOP DURING THE THREE DAYS OF THE 'FLOOD' - Filenews 29/5

Weak low pressure and unstable air mass continue to affect the area.

Initially today, increased low clouds that will be observed mainly in the west, it is possible that they will give isolated rain. Progressively until noon the weather in most areas of the island will be mostly clear with temporary cloudiness, however clouds that will develop mainly in the south and east, are expected to give isolated rains or even a storm. In a storm, hail may fall. Winds will blow southwest to northwest, generally moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and temporarily in the afternoon on the south and east coasts to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will generally be a little rough to rough. The temperature will rise to around 31 degrees inland, around 29 on the southeast and east coasts, around 25 in the southwest, west and north coasts and around 20 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight the weather will become mostly clear, although locally there will be temporarily increased low clouds. Winds will be mainly downhill, light, 3 Beaufort. The sea in the west will remain a little rough, however on the rest of the coast it will gradually become calm to a little rough. The temperature will drop to around 18 degrees inland, in the southwest, west and north coasts, around 20 on the southeast and east coasts and around 12 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, locally increased clouds will be observed from time to time, which after noon are expected to give local rains and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the mountains, in areas west and south of Troodos but also in areas inland.

The temperature is not expected to change appreciably, to continue to fluctuate close to the average climatic values of the season.
