A mass mobilization in Pachna was caused by information received by the breeders that today they are expected to proceed with on-site actions at the priest's farm, after a positive case of foot-and-mouth disease was detected in a unit of the community.
Since Tuesday morning, dozens of livestock farmers have gathered on the Prastio - Pachna road, with the aim of preventing any action on the part of the Veterinary Services.
At the same time, however, information tells us that the officials of the Veterinary Services have not planned any killing or sampling action in the area.
Speaking to Filenews, the priest of the farm where animals were found positive for the virus said that he received a phone call from the Veterinary Services yesterday at noon, in order to ask if he consented to the killing of the animals.
"They just called me to ask me just that. I told them that, if no new sampling is carried out, I will not accept such a thing. If the results are positive again, then yes. But not immediate killing without new sampling," he said.
Regarding the mobilization of the breeders, he stated that they were informed by the Police that officials of the competent services were going to go to the area, while, as he said, the owner of the excavator was also informed to open the pit. However, as he noted, there was no further development.
