The risk of fires starting and spreading is very high, due to the winds of 6 Beaufort that blow with gusts of 8 Beaufort, the spokesman of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, said on Friday.
In a post on platform X, Mr. Kettis states that taking into account that during the day there have been several fires in the countryside both in coastal areas and in the Nicosia District, the public is advised to stop operating in a way that can cause fires.
As he notes, it seems at first glance that these fires were caused by agricultural activities as well as by tools that produce sparks.
"Our information was forwarded to the Police, who began investigating the causes of the fires," he said.
He also notes that on the basis of the prevailing environmental conditions, the decree of the Minister of the Interior is activated, for the prohibition of any work involving the use of heat.
