Many hours of work and many liters of paint will be needed by the members of the Polis Chrysochous school board to restore the outdoor areas of the high school in the area.
Unknown persons wrote various profanities and slogans on almost all the walls of the school. This unacceptable picture was seen yesterday by teachers and students after the three days of May Day.
There is a guard at the school until 11 pm, while as it is known, the issue of installing a closed circuit is hampered by reactions to personal data violations. Isn't this a little strange when in all the rest of our daily activity we don't even discuss this issue?

The Paphos District Court yesterday referred the 41-year-old woman and the 19-year-old man who were arrested in an episodic manner in mid-April on suspicion of a series of criminal acts in Paphos to a trial before the Criminal Court that will meet on June 8.The two will remain in custody by court decision until the start of their trial.
Cases related to conspiracy to commit a felony, arson of vehicles and premises, attempted arson and offenses related to money laundering are being investigated against the two.
The arrest of the two took place in an episodic manner and after a chase that unfolded from Paphos to Nicosia. The 41-year-old and the 19-year-old were spotted by a police patrol in mid-April approaching a property in the area of Paphos, in possession of a bottle and an object that looked like a bat. When they realized the presence of the Police, they returned to the vehicle in which they arrived at the scene and, trying to escape police control, collided with official cars, driving in a dangerous way.
The suspects then managed to enter the Paphos - Limassol highway and despite the chase they temporarily escaped arrest. The vehicle, which was found to have fake registration numbers, was later found outside a house in a village in Nicosia. The 41-year-old was located inside the house and made allegations that are being investigated, while a little later the 19-year-old was also found walking on a dirt road in the same area. According to the Police, the young man attacked a police officer, hitting him in the face, as a result of which he was arrested for a flagrante delicto.

The Court of Appeal put an end to the adventure of a mother from Limassol, overturning the first-instance decision that would send her to prison for disobeying a communication decree.
The case concerned ex-spouses, who had a child in 2014. By decree of 2019, the custody and care of the minor was entrusted to the mother, while a communication program with the father was determined, with a gradual increase in contact time.
The father had registered a disobedience application in May 2022, citing ten incidents in which, as he claimed, it was not possible to contact the child, despite his presence at the mother's residence. In addition, the father argued that the mother was obstructing the implementation of the decree.
The mother, for her part, did not dispute that the communication did not take place, however, she argued that this was not due to wilful disobedience, but to the minor's refusal to follow his father. According to her claims, the child reacted strongly, while she attributed his attitude to the father's behaviour. At the same time, he stated that he had installed cameras in the house, submitting relevant audiovisual material.
The Court of First Instance ruled that on two specific dates, on April 12 and 26, 2022, there was deliberate disobedience of the decree, imposing a prison sentence of 15 days and activating a previous suspended sentence of 25 days.
The decision of the Court of Appeal
However, the Court of Appeal held that this decision was erroneous. As stated in the decision, in order to establish contempt of a decree, proof of both the act of disobedience and the intention to disobey is required. In the present case, it was held that the deliberate disobedience on the part of the mother was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Court found that in several cases there was insufficient evidence that the father came to exercise the right of access, while in others he did not even have a right of access under the decree. In addition, it was accepted that on certain dates communication was impossible due to the strong negative attitude of the minor.
In relation to the above dates, the Court of Appeal ruled that the mother was at the designated place, opened the door and urged the child to meet his father, but to no avail. It was also found that the child's refusal was not substantially challenged and that, under the prevailing circumstances, communication could not be achieved.
The Court of Appeal also noted that the behaviour of both parents in some cases was conflictual, however this was not enough to establish wilful disobedience on the part of the mother.
In conclusion, the Court held that the mother proved that the non-compliance was due to weakness and not to the intention to circumvent the decree, while the father did not prove the disobedience to the required extent.
Therefore, the appeal was upheld, the conviction and sentence were quashed, and the application for disobedience was dismissed.
The costs of the first instance proceedings were awarded in favour of the mother and against the father, while appeal costs amounting to €2,000 were also awarded.

The shocking case brought to light by Filenews on April 20 and concerns the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl in Limassol who gave birth to a healthy baby a few months ago, claiming that the arrest resulted from rape, is now taking a new turn.
For the case, as we had written, the Police had proceeded to arrest a 19-year-old Syrian, who was brought before a court and taken into custody. According to reliable sources on our website, the suspect, through his lawyer, claimed that he is a minor and not an adult, as initially presented by the Police. In fact, in support of his claim, he submitted various certificates bearing a specific date of birth and stamps of a competent government agency.
The case was initially registered with the District Court in order to be referred to the Criminal Court as a case involving an adult defendant. However, after the aforementioned development, instructions were given by the Legal Service for the case to be registered with the Three-Member Children's Court in Limassol.
Today (4/5), the 17-year-old defendant appeared before the Children's Court, where the case was registered and set for a hearing at the end of May. Due to the age of the accused, he was released on restrictive conditions. Specifically, he is required to pay a financial guarantee with a creditable guarantor of €10,000, to hand over his travel documents, to report daily to a police station, while a decree has been issued not to approach or communicate with the complainant.
The 17-year-old faces seven charges related to sexual abuse of a minor, rape, kidnapping for the purpose of hidden and unjust restraint, threat and carrying a knife. He claims that he is not the father of the minor's child and denies that he raped her. It is noted that samples of genetic material (DNA) have been taken from both him and the infant, in order to determine whether he is the biological father.
We remind you that on November 5, 2025, the 14-year-old was taken to the Limassol hospital in unbearable pain. During the examination at First Aid, it was found that the minor was 34 weeks pregnant. The doctors immediately proceeded with the delivery, and then informed the Police. Immediately, all the prescribed procedures were mobilized for an immediate investigation of the case. The minor, after being discharged from the Hospital, was taken to the "Children's House", where she initially claimed that she did not know who the child's father was. He then stated that the child came from rape, giving some minimal descriptions.
In January 2026, in a new interview, the minor gave a new version of events, saying that the incident happened near a kiosk in her neighbourhood, where she was approached by an unknown Syrian. Then, as he claims, he took her to a secluded place in Limassol, where he raped her.
Some tests followed and the minor, according to our information, was asked to give a new interview, where she gave more details about the case. In her testimony, she stated that she was in a park near her home with another minor when a man approached, who took her to his car.
Initially, his behaviour was friendly to her, however, then he locked the car doors, took her to a secluded area, and offered her an energy drink and later a cookie. The minor, after consuming them, does not remember exactly what happened. However, she later realized that she had had sexual intercourse with the specific person.
After all three interviews of the minor, the investigators of the case proceeded to thorough investigations and examinations, concluding the identification of the 17-year-old accused
