TOM WARNS OF DANGEROUS VEHICLES AND COMPONENTS - Filenews 20/4
The Department of Road Transport communicates the list of dangerous vehicles and components found on the EU market, recalled and registered on the website of the EU Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Non-Food Products (Safety Gate), in the 14th and 15th weeks of 2026.
These are included in the dangerous products link. https://www.gov.cy/media/2026/04/20042026_TOM_RAPEX.pdf
Furthermore, the Department invites manufacturers, agents, distributors of the manufacturer, importers and sellers (including those acting online or remotely), who may have placed or place such products on the market of the Republic of Cyprus, to inform the Department of Road Transport.
It notes that, in the event that the products in question are placed in the Republic of Cyprus, the above economic operators must take all necessary measures to ensure that these products are recalled as provided for in the relevant legislation.
The Department also invites consumers, such as in case they own the retired cars or motorcycles, to contact the manufacturer or the manufacturer's representative or distributor for instructions. It points out that any possession of the above vehicles should be examined on the basis of the registration certificate of the vehicle they own (stem) and the information included in it (e.g. range of construction, type/model number).
With regard to the withdrawn parts, it invites their owners, where appropriate, to stop using them and return them immediately to the place where they have purchased them (if possible), informing the seller accordingly.
In the event that a manufacturer, representative, distributor of the manufacturer, importer or seller refuses to comply with the above consumer rights, the consumer is invited to submit his complaint in writing to the Consumer Protection Service through www.consumer.gov.cy website, the Department adds.
