THEMATIC EXCURSIONS BY THE PAFOS REGIONAL BOARD OF TOURISM TO EXPLORE THE MUSEUMS OF POLIS CHRYSOCHOUS
Every Saturday May & June
Departs 9.15am returns 4.15pm
The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism , within the framework of its actions to highlight the cultural and natural heritage of the wider Polis Chrysochous–Akamas area, is intensifying its efforts for the months of May–June and is proceeding with the organisation of free thematic excursions in the region.
The initiative focuses on introducing five important points of interest: the Sea & Culture Museum, the Reptile & Amphibian Park, the Marion–Arsinoe Archaeological Museum, the Akamas Museum of Rural Life and Tradition in Droushia, and the Information Centre for Avifauna and Terrestrial Flora in Kathikas. These sites together create a multi-thematic narrative connecting nature, the marine environment, and the historical evolution of the area.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the world of biodiversity, understand the richness and
importance of the region’s marine ecosystem, and discover significant archaeological findings that testify to the long history of Polis Chrysochous.
The excursions will initially take place during May and June, every Saturday, they are supported by the
Municipalities of Polis Chrysochous and Akamas, and they are offered completely free of charge, with
departures from the Kato Pafos Archaeological Park at 09:15 and return at 16:30 to the same location.
The initiative is addressed to both locals and visitors, contributing to the enhancement of domestic tourism and the balanced development of the Pafos region.
Special emphasis is also placed on the educational character of the initiative, as the excursions include
organised guided tours and activities aimed at raising awareness on environmental issues, cultural
heritage, and sustainable development. This action also forms part of Pafos Tourism Board broader mission to strengthen environmental consciousness, enhance the quality visitor experience, and promote lesser-known areas.
The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism continues to implement targeted actions that promote Polis
Chrysochous area and Akamas, the visibility of less prominent areas, further strengthening the position of the Pafos district as a modern, sustainable, and multi-dimensional tourism destination.
