THE VISIBILITY THAT FOREIGNERS GIVE US. PRICELESS!

THE VISIBILITY THAT FOREIGNERS GIVE US.  PRICELESS! - Filenews 10/4 by Angelos Angelodimou

Developments around the world can well be described as rapid at various levels. In the geostrategic field, in the power of power, in political alliances and in the energy environment. However, changes are also recorded in parts of life that are closer to the average person.

In the economy, in the cost of living, in the issue of housing, in health care, in the quality of food and in general in the quality of life. Therefore, we observe a significant percentage of the population deciding to move to another country, in an effort to live a better life. In essence, to leave behind what he has built so far and start a new effort.

They move to our country

In this context, a significant number of people decided to continue their lives in Cyprus. This is becoming more widely known nowadays because of social media, through which many people decide to share their experience and their new way of life with friends, acquaintances and strangers.

From what we have observed so far, the - not scientifically documented - conclusion emerges that several people from the United Kingdom, Germany, Israel, Russia and Ukraine have moved to our country, showing a particular preference for Paphos and Larnaca. Of course, Limassol is not left out of context, which has been attracting a significant number of foreign citizens for years.

Why do they choose Cyprus?

So why do these people choose Cyprus? According to their posts, the main reasons are climate and safety. Especially people who come from the hazy weather of England and enjoy in Paphos the sunshine, the clear sea, the opportunity to go out of your house at night and walk without fear, declare themselves vindicated by their decision and advertise their new way of life at every opportunity.

What else do they find fascinating? The good food. The hospitality of the people. It seems unreal to them that the old woman who lives next door to the house they bought welcomed them by offering them a dessert or a bag of fruit from her garden.

The short distances, the huge history of our country and the fact that in the same day you can visit the snowy Troodos and then the beach of Limassol, are elements that seemed impossible to them in the countries.

The advertising and free promotion that these people offer in Cyprus is invaluable. Because they are the living confirmation of what we have been projecting for so many years for our country. And more importantly, it comes from non-Cypriots and is also aimed at non-Cypriots – their friends and relatives who are still living in their country – and therefore gives them another incentive to think more seriously about following the same path.

But there is another category of people who choose our country to be professionally active. Or at least, after they have already arrived, they find fertile ground to start a business, a service, a professional venture.

The decisions taken in recent years, with the aim of strengthening the technology sector, supporting innovation and attracting new talent, combined with other factors that pre-existed, such as the widespread use of the English language, the good level of services in the field of banks, accountants and lawyers, as well as the fact that we are an EU member state, They were factors that led several companies and professionals to our country.

To make the most of them

In conclusion. What else are we waiting for to make use of these people? Both the ordinary people who come to live in Cyprus and promote our country every day through their own lives, as well as the professionals who rejoice in our successes and promote them abroad, as a result of which the efforts made around the world become known. To bring them to the forefront and make use of them. Because this will have an additional benefit for our country, but also for our economy in particular.

Viral posts and Tanya's example

I will record a very characteristic fact. Mrs. Tanya Romanyukha, is the General Manager of Techisland. For those who don't know, TechIsland is the largest non-profit association of technology companies in Cyprus, which was founded in 2021 with the aim of accelerating the development of the technology sector and transforming the island into an international innovation hub (tech hub) of Europe.

A few days ago, Ms. Romanyukha, posted a video on social media, in which he referred to the descent of NVIDIA to Cyprus, the efforts of the officials who preceded it, to achieve such a thing and its importance for the technological community, but also for the wider economy of Cyprus. This was followed by a new post entitled "exciting news for Cyprus", in which he referred to the descent of Plug and Play, with the note that the trip of those in charge to Silicon Valley turns out to be not just for public relations. Both posts by Ms. Romanyukha went viral and attracted the interest of the entire professional and technological community in Cyprus and abroad.

In short, as mentioned at an event held a few days ago at the Presidential Palace, for the launch of Plug and Play Cyprus, it is essentially one of the largest global platforms for open innovation and start-up accelerators. What did Ms. Romanyukha; Free promotion and advertising of our country's business and the actions taken to strengthen it, in order to attract even more companies and professionals
