SMALL REDUCTIONS IN FUEL PRICES ARE COMING

SMALL REDUCTIONS IN FUEL PRICES ARE COMING - Filenews 22/4

The possibility that moderate reductions in fuel prices will be recorded in the coming days, mainly in unleaded 95, was reported to KYPE by the Director of the Consumer Protection Service, Konstantinos Karagiorgis.

Answering a question about the course of prices, Mr. Karagiorgis stressed that the firm position of the Service is not to proceed with estimates or forecasts for the level of fuel prices, as this is a particularly complex sector, which is greatly influenced by geopolitical factors and other external variables.

However, as he noted, based on the course of international Platts prices, combined with the recent geopolitical developments and the increases that have already been recorded in both Europe and Cyprus, there is a possibility that there will be small reductions in retail prices in the immediate future.

Asked when these changes could be felt, the Director of the Service said that this could happen even today or tomorrow.

Mr. Karagiorgis also underlined that the Service monitors developments on a daily basis, with the main goal of ensuring consumer protection.

At the same time, he again appealed to the public to choose gas stations with lower prices, pointing out that there are still significant discrepancies in charges between different gas stations.
