RAIN AND STORMS ON THE MENU, DUST TO SUBSIDE FROM THIS AFTERNOON - Filenews 19/4

Weak low pressure and unstable air mass affect the area. Dust will be suspended in the atmosphere, which, however, will gradually subside by the afternoon.

Today, initially locally increased clouds will be observed, which in the west and north are expected to give isolated rains. Soon the weather will become mostly cloudy, while local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the mountains and the eastern half of the island. In a storm, hail may fall. Winds will be mainly southwest to northwest and in the interior initially variable, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, while in the afternoon in the southeast they will blow up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will generally be a little rough. The temperature will rise to around 22 degrees inland, on the south and east coasts, around 20 on the rest of the coasts and around 10 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, there will be locally increased clouds, which may give isolated rains in the north, interior and east. The winds will initially blow southwest to northwest and later mainly northwest, light 3 Beaufort and temporarily on the coast to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will become generally calm to a little rough. The temperature will drop to around 12 degrees inland, around 15 on the west coast, around 13 on the rest of the coasts and around 5 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Monday, locally increased clouds will be observed from time to time in most areas of the island, however in the mountains and in areas south of Troodos, clouds that will develop at noon and after, will give isolated rains or even a storm.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, in most areas of the island the weather will be mostly clear with temporary cloudiness, however in the mountains, clouds that will develop after noon are expected to give isolated rains.

The temperature is expected to rise slightly on Monday and not change significantly until Wednesday, remaining slightly below the average climatic values of the season.
