POLICE AND HIO WARN OF FRAUD IN THE NAME OF GESY - WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR

POLICE AND HIO WARN OF FRAUD IN THE NAME OF GESY - WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR - Filenews 8/4

The Health Insurance Organization (HIO) and the Cyprus Police inform the beneficiaries of the GHS that incidents of sending false and malicious SMS text messages to mobile phones, which appear to come from the GHS, using the name GESY, continue to be observed. It is pointed out that the HIO and the GHS have nothing to do with these messages.

These messages mislead the recipient that they must follow a specific electronic link in order to correct their personal information as shown in the examples below:

It is noted that the messages in many cases appear under legal messages that have already been sent by the GHS to the beneficiaries, as shown in the image below:

It is emphasized that the HIO will never ask for passwords, login details, payment details or any other personal data via text messages (SMS), as well as will not ask citizens to carry out any financial transaction through links.

The HIO and the Cyprus Police call on the public to be especially careful and to trust only announcements and posts published through the official information channels of the HIO.

In case you receive a message of this type, do not open the link and delete the message immediately.
