PAPHOS - GOOD FRIDAY EASTER PROCESSION -Pafos Live 9/4


The solemn atmosphere of Good Friday will be shared by a large number of believers in Paphos, participating in the procession of the Epitaph of the Cathedral of Agios Theodoros, ending at 28th October Square.

Continuing a decades-long tradition, the Municipality of Paphos is organizing the ceremony again this year in collaboration with the Holy Metropolis of Paphos, the Tactical Group of the 8th Infantry Regiment of the National Guard, the Paphos District Police Directorate and the Eagle Corps.

According to the program, the Epitaph is expected to end at the 28th of October Square at approximately 9:30 p.m. From 8:00 p.m., the Praises of the Epitaph of Lament will be broadcast in the square, in perfect harmony with the spirit of the day and the climax of the Divine Drama.

The procession of the Epitaph of the Cathedral of Agios Theodoros will begin at approximately 9:20 p.m. and will follow the following route: Agiou Theodoros Street – Kostis Palamas Square – 25th March Street – Dionysios Solomos Square (Monument for the 200th anniversary of the Revolution of 1821) – G. Griva Digeni Avenue – 28th October Square.

The established procession will be formed with the participation of the Holy Clergy and officials. For the first time, the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Paphos collaborates with the Philharmonic of the Paphos Music School, under the direction of Mrs. Maria Avraam and will be accompanied by an honorary detachment of the National Guard and members of the Eagle Corps.

Around 9:40 p.m., a prayer will be chanted from a platform in the 28th of October Square, while for another year the Choir of the Paphos Music Club will perform the Epitaph Lament under the direction of Mr. Sotiris Karagiorgis, contributing to the creation of a deeply devout atmosphere.
