With a brilliant ceremony and an official dinner hosted by the contestants, the representatives of the World Chess Federation and the institutions of Paphos, this year's World Chess Championship hosted by Cyprus was completed last night at the luxurious resort Cap St. Georges Hotel and Resort.

Hundreds of members of the global chess community and the authorities of Paphos enjoyed a great evening at the Shell restaurant in Cap St. Georges, which included the awarding of medals to the winners of this year's men's and women's world championship, greetings from the organizers and winners of each category, an artistic program and a dinner.
The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, also addressed the event, who spoke of an event of enormous importance hosted by Cap St. Georges and Cyprus, on the basis of which the key role played by the Republic of Cyprus as a bridge between cultures and actions was once again highlighted.

President Christodoulides said he was proud of the event and the messages emitted internationally by it about the levels of culture, culture and services in Cyprus and expressed the hope that soon our country will welcome again events of similar size and importance.

The representatives of the World Chess Federation, as well as the contestants themselves, expressed their full satisfaction with the conditions they found in the luxury resort during this 20-day World Championship, many of whom described the event as the best they have ever participated in and expressed their desire to return to Paphos as visitors.

The announcement by the Cap St. Georges Hotel and Resort of the decision to give the names of the world championship winners on a permanent basis to the suites in which they stayed during their stay here was particularly warmly welcomed. The organizers described this decision as surprising and unique, congratulating the resort's ownership for this smart move and what it offered to make the 2026 World Chess Championship one of the most successful events ever.
