PAPHOS - ALARM BELL FOR APARTMENT BUILDING - LETTER TO THE MINISTER OF INTERIOR - Pafos Press 22/4
The condition of an apartment building in the heart of Paphos is causing serious concerns for the safety of citizens and residents, as reported in a letter sent by the Paphos District Coordinator of the Social Alliance, George Kounnas, to the Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou.
The letter notes that the apartment building in question, which is located on Renou Street, within the historic shopping center of the city, shows extensive damage and serious signs of structural inadequacy.
As emphasized, the condition of the building poses an immediate danger not only to the residents but also to passing citizens, as well as to neighbouring properties.
Despite the obvious danger, according to Mr. Kounnas, the necessary measures have not yet been taken to restore or safely manage the apartment building, which intensifies the concern of residents and professionals in the area. The letter also includes photographic material documenting the current situation.
The District Coordinator of the Paphos Social Alliance warns that, without immediate intervention by the competent authorities, there is a serious risk of causing an accident with tragic consequences.
“Such an eventuality can and must be prevented,” it is characteristically noted.
Finally, an appeal is made to the Ministry of Interior for an immediate inspection of the building, assessment of the situation and taking the necessary measures, with the aim of ensuring public safety in the city center.
