PAFOS HOSTS 36 BRITISH JOURNALISTS FOR A DESTINATION FAMILIARISATION VISIT

The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism, in collaboration with Constantinou Bros Hotels, is hosting the British Guild of Travel Writers in Pafos in a press trip taking place from 27 April to 1 May 2026.

This initiative forms part of the joint strategy of the Pafos Regional Board of Tourism and the private sector to strengthen the destination’s international outreach and further enhance Pafos’ visibility in the British market through authentic experiential tourism, thematic guided tours, and first-hand exposure to the region’s cultural, gastronomic, and natural wealth.

During the programme, participants will have the opportunity to explore some of the destination’s most iconic landmarks, including the Birth Place of Aphrodite, the Old Town with its neoclassical buildings, Tombs of the Kings, the Paphos Medieval Castle, and the Kato Pafos Archaeological Park. Participants will also experience the destination’s smart digital visitor applications, which enhance interpretation and enrich the visitor experience at some of the region’s most important archaeological sites.

Special emphasis is also being placed on gastronomy and authentic local experiences through visits to
wineries and agritourism establishments, where guests will gain first-hand insight into local production, Cypriot cuisine, and the high-quality local products of Pafos.

At the same time, a dedicated thematic route will showcase the destination’s natural side, with visits to the Polis Chrysochous and Akamas Peninsula areas, Lara Bay, the Turtle Museum in Innia, the Smigies Nature Trail, and Baths of Aphrodite, highlighting the ecotourism character and unique natural identity of the region.

As part of the hosted programme, participants will also attend a special sunset cocktail reception and dinner in the presence of Kostas Koumis-Deputy Minister of Tourism, reinforcing the institutional importance of the visit and underlining the significance of the British market for tourism in Pafos and Cyprus more broadly.

The hosting of the British Guild of Travel Writers marks yet another targeted initiative by Pafos’ tourism stakeholders and local entrepreneurs to strengthen the destination’s presence in key international markets, leveraging the influence of international media and specialised travel writers to promote Pafos as a modern, authentic, and multi-thematic destination throughout the year.

The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism continues to consistently implement meaningful initiatives that
strengthen the international profile of the destination and contribute substantially to the further enhancement of Pafos’ tourism identity.
