OPERATIONS TO CONTROL MIGRATION FLOWS CONTINUE - 535 DEPORTATIONS, AND 2,052 DEPARTURES SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR – Detailed data - Filenews 23/4


As part of the government's strategy to tackle crime and illegal stay in the country, the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, the Cyprus Police and the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection continue their intensive cooperation, through joint planning and continuous operational action.

The ongoing operations on a nationwide scale have already yielded concrete results.

From March 1st until today, the competent Services proceeded to:
195 deportations of foreigners, including persons who were detained in the Police Detention Centers, the Central Prisons and the "Limnes" Pre-Removal Center,
729 voluntary departures, and
204 arrests for cases of illegal stay and illegal employment.

During the same period, 256 irregular arrivals were also recorded.


From January 1st until today, the total numbers are as follows:535 deportations,
2,052 voluntary departures,
578 arrests, and
529 irregular arrivals.

The data show that the joint effort of the competent authorities is paying off, both in terms of controls and in the overall management of migration flows.


According to the Ministry, the operations will continue with the same intensity, with the aim of ensuring public order and security and strengthening the sense of security of citizens.
