NEW INCREASES IN FUEL PRICES, COMPLAINS THE CONSUMERS' ASSOCIATION

NEW INCREASES IN FUEL PRICES, COMPLAINS THE CONSUMERS' ASSOCIATION - Filenews 16/4

New increases in fuel prices were made today, Thursday, by an oil import company, as well as gas stations of another import company, which did not announce an increase, according to an announcement by the Cyprus Consumers Association.

The Association clarified that there is no illegality from the increases. However, he criticized the statements of the competent authorities about monitoring prices and taking measures, arguing that they are "without substantial effect".

Today, the Association specifically states, "a specific oil importing company announced, among other things, an increase in the price of gasoline 95 by two cents per liter".

Unfortunately, from today's monitoring of the incorporation of the increase into the retail prices of the gas stations, it was observed, he adds, that 22 gas stations of another oil importing company also increased their prices, without their company announcing any increase.

Of the 22 gas stations that increased their prices without their company announcing an increase, 7 gas stations increased their prices above the increase announced by the other company, the Association points out.

It further states that all the gas stations of the company that announced the increase were limited within the limit of the increase of 2 cents per liter or even lower than the 2 cents of the increase.

"It is emphasized that there is no illegality from the gas station owners who increased their prices without the importing company announcing an increase," he emphasizes.

"It is sad, however, that the Competent Authorities state that they are closely monitoring the formation of fuel prices and that they will immediately take all appropriate measures for an effective protection of consumers", says the Cyprus Consumers Association, adding that it estimates that "the statements of the Competent Authorities are without substantial impact and are made for the purpose of impressions".

The Cyprus Consumers Association, the announcement concludes, holds detailed data with the names and addresses of all petrol stations, as well as the time and amount of their price formation.
