MAJOR ROAD WORKS


Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway


During the period 2/3/2026 – 30/4/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and watering of plants will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway in Larnaca district in both directions, by the Department of Forestry. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected.


Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway


On sections of the motorway, from 06 April 2026 to 28 May 2026, between the hours of 09:00 – 15:00 and then 19:00 to 05:30 the next morning, daily except Fridays, Weekends and Public Holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the right lane of the motorway will be closed, from the “Rizoelias” roundabout up to approximately 3km before its connection with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, successively for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at six different points.


Limassol-Nicosia Motorway


On the section of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway in both directions between the Skarinou interchange and the junction with Athalassa and Limassol avenues, in Nicosia, from Monday 23/03/2026 until Thursday 30/04/2026, except Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, from 22:00 at night until 05:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time.

On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway in the direction of Limassol, in the Kakoratzia area, on Monday 27/04/2026, between the hours of 08:30 - 14:30, pruning works will be carried out. During the works, the left lane of the motorway will be closed for a distance of approximately 1 km, and traffic will be diverted to the right lane.

On sections of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway in both directions, from Monday 27/04/2026 to Thursday 07/05/2026, between the hours of 21:00 at night and 05:30 in the morning of the next day (excluding Fridays and weekends), road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, both lanes of the motorway in one direction will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic.


Nicosia Perimeter Motorway


From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.

On the central island of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway from the Lakatamia Industrial Area interchange to its connection with the A1 Motorway, from Monday 27 April 2026, until Monday 04 May 2026, excluding the Public Holiday of Friday 1 May, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, grass removal works will be carried out. During the works, the expressway lane will be closed to traffic for a length of (3) three kilometers and traffic will be conducted in one lane.


Limassol Bypass


On the section of the bypass road, between the New Hospital junction and the Germasogeia junction in both directions, during the period 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, between the hours of 07:00-16:00, noise barrier cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the Bypass will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.

On the section of the bypass road, between the New Hospital junction and the Mouttagiaka junction in both directions, during the period 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, from Monday to Thursday, from 21:00 at night to 03:00 in the morning of the next day, rainwater sluice cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the bypass will be closed in sections over a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.


Limassol-Paphos Motorway


On sections of the motorway in both directions, between the dates 17/03/2026-15/05/2026, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, ditch cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m in one direction only, without affecting the traffic lanes of the road.


Nicosia District


In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.

Also, within the framework of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, from Tuesday 17/03/2026 and for a duration of approximately 2 months, the intersection of Famagusta Avenue with Kalavryton Street will be closed. During the works, drivers coming from Kalavryton Street towards Kaimakli / Sopaz are urged to follow the route via Kalavryton-Falirou Street to the adjacent intersection of Piraeus Street with Famagusta Avenue. Drivers heading towards Nicosia / Aglatzia should follow the route via Kalavryton - Persephone - Soulio Street to the intersection of Parnithos Street with Larnaca Avenue.


Limassol District


In Limassol, on Omonia Avenue, from Monday 27/04/2026 until Wednesday 29/04/2026, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking (lines) application works will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed at all times, per direction, and traffic will be conducted via the other lane of traffic.

In Limassol, on Anikodomiseos Street, on Monday 27/04/2026 between the hours of 21:00 p.m. until 05:30 a.m. the next morning, road surface maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, the section of Anikodomiseos Street, from the roundabout with Agios Athanasios Avenue to Theotokou Street, will be closed and traffic will be diverted via Theotokou, Kritonos, Kaisareias and Gorgopotamou Streets, as well as the secondary road network.

On the Coastal Road, within the municipal boundaries of the Municipality of Amathus, from Tuesday 28/04/2026 at 09:00 p.m. until Friday 01/05/2026 at 06:00 a.m., asphalt paving works will be carried out. During the works, the following regulations will apply:

· On Tuesday 28/04/2026 from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 in the morning of Wednesday 29/04/2026, from the intersection of Christakis Kranou Street with the Coastal Road to the intersection of Panagiotis Tsangari Street with the Coastal Front, the South lanes of the Coastal Road will be closed. Traffic from East to West will be via Ch. Kranou, Methana and Panagiotis Tsangari Streets. Traffic from West to East will be conducted normally.

· On Wednesday 29/04/2026 from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 in the morning of Thursday 30/04/2026, from the intersection of Panagiotis Tsangari Street with the Coastal Road to the intersection of Takis Christodoulou Street with the Coastal Road, the South lanes of the Coastal Front will be closed. Traffic from East to West will be via Panagiotis Tsangari, Antiochias and Takis Christodoulou Streets. Traffic from West to East will be conducted normally.

· On Thursday 30/04/2026 from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 in the morning of Friday 01/05/2026, from the intersection of Takis Christodoulou Street with the Coastal Road to the intersection of Griva Digeni Avenue with the Coastal Road, the South lanes of the Coastal Front will be closed. Traffic from the East to the West will be through the North lanes of the Coastal Road, which will operate in two-way traffic, until the end of the works as two-way.


Larnaca District


As part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca – Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, from Friday 27/03/2026, a section of approximately 400m of the southern lanes of the Coastal Road will be opened to traffic and will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage. In addition, from Friday 27/03/2026 and for three months, a section of Galaxia Street in Oroklini will remain closed, from the height of Fotis Pitta Street to Vachamon Street, and traffic will be diverted via Vachamon, Elpidos and Fotis Pitta Streets in Oroklini.

Also within the framework of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from Monday 27/04/2026 and for two months, in Oroklini, a section of approximately 200m of Mesopotamias Street, from the height of the Radisson Beach Hotel to the Organized Beach Oroklini will remain closed, and access will be provided via Oceanias and Afroditis streets in Oroklini.

As part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 26/02/2026-24/04/2026, construction works will be carried out on a light-controlled pedestrian crossing on Makariou Avenue, in Larnaca. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 40 meters in length, on Makariou Avenue, from the Larnaca Port Roundabout to Theodorou Kolokotroni Street. The left lane of traffic on Makariou Avenue, heading towards Larnaca, will remain closed and traffic will be diverted to the right lane using appropriate road markings. In order to ensure smooth traffic flow, the one-way section of Th. Kolokotroni Street from Makariou Avenue 3 to its junction with G. Drosini Street will be removed and converted into a dead end and Georgiou Drosini Street will be converted into a one-way street with a permitted route from Th. Kolokotroni Street to Meli Nikolaidi Street.

During the period between 5/3/2026 – 5/5/2026, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, works will be carried out to construct new photo-controlled pedestrian crossings and reconstruct the pavement at the Larnaca industrial area roundabout in the direction from Nicosia to Aradippou. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200 meters in length, near the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout. The left lane on Acropolis Avenue as well as the exit to Aradippou will remain closed to traffic. Traffic towards Aradippou will be diverted via Stadiou Avenue or Fotis Pitta Avenue to Andrea Panayidis and Dimitraki Koumantari Streets respectively, using appropriate road markings.

Also on Acropolis Avenue, in the area of ​​the Larnaca Industrial Area roundabout, heading from Nicosia to Larnaca, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Larnaca Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 07/04/2026-28/04/2026, construction works for new photo-controlled pedestrian crossings and pavement reconstruction will be carried out. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200 meters, near the Larnaca Industrial roundabout. The left lane on Acropolis Avenue will remain closed to traffic and traffic will be directed to the right lane using appropriate road markings.

In Larnaca, on Dimitras Street, also within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 14/04/2026-22/05/2026, construction works will be carried out on new pedestrian crossings, construction of a sidewalk and green spaces. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 330 meters, and due to the Works, Dimitras Street will be one-way from the roundabout by the tennis courts to Archiepiskopou Makariou Avenue and Apollonos Street will be one-way from its junction with Kikas and Froso Sountia Streets towards Dimitras Street. Traffic from Archiepiskopou Makariou Avenue to Dimitras Street will be diverted via Archiepiskopou Kyprianou Avenue or Kostis Palamas Street to Kilkis Street with the use of appropriate road markings.

In Aradippou, on Omirou Street, near the intersection of Omirou Street and Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, also within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, on 25/04/2026 from 08:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., horizontal marking works will be carried out. During the works, the intersection will remain closed to traffic. Traffic towards Omirou Street will be channelled via Kyriakou Matsi Avenue to Odyssea Elytis Street with the use of appropriate road markings.

In the area of ​​Kofinou and the village of Agios Theodoros, on the old Nicosia-Limassol road, from Monday 27/04/2026 and Tuesday 28/04/2026 between the hours of 08:00 – 17:00, pipeline construction works will be carried out by the Water Development Department. During the works, a section of the road will be closed alternately, in each direction, for a length of approximately 20 meters and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane with STOP and GO signs.

Also in the area of ​​Kofinou, on the old Nicosia-Limassol road, from Tuesday 28/04/2026 to Thursday 30/04/2026 between the hours of 8:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the afternoon, cable pulling works in manholes will be carried out by Cyta. During the works, part of one lane of the road will be closed locally over manholes and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.


Paphos District


In the Municipality of Paphos, as part of the Archbishop Makarios III Avenue Improvement Project, in the areas of the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia (Konia), a section of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue will be closed in the area of ​​the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia, as well as in Konia, from Thursday, January 29, 2026 and for a period of approximately three months. A section of the oncoming lane of the Avenue (along its northern side) will remain closed, from its junction with Achepans Street to the junction of the avenue with Thasos Street (Konia). The two above-mentioned lanes will operate, Thasos normally, while Achepans Street partially, since traffic will be carried out unhindered in the uphill lane, while in the downhill lane, from the height of the intersection of the road with Vasilikon Street and up to the intersection with the avenue under improvement, ONLY ambulances will be allowed to use it. The ascent towards Konya and the wider area will be carried out ONLY from the motorway exit for Konya. The works will begin at 06.00 am on Thursday 29/01/2026 and will be completed in approximately three months from the start date
