FYTIRIS MEETING WITH THE US EMBASSY - FOCUS ON THE NEW DIRECTORATE OF ORGANISED CRIME AND CO-OPERATION ON SECURITY ISSUES - Filenews 8/4
The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Fytiris, held a meeting with representatives of the US Embassy on Wednesday, in the context of strengthening cooperation on security issues and the fight against organized crime.
An announcement by the Ministry states that the focus was on the creation of the new specialized Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of the Police against modern forms of crime.
The representatives of the Embassy expressed their support for the effort, by providing know-how, training and utilizing international partnerships and networks.
At the same time, issues related to firefighting and ways to deal with fires were discussed, with the Embassy expressing readiness to contribute with know-how and experience in this field.
There was also an exchange of views on the challenges posed by organised crime and modern methods of dealing with it.
