EAC WORKERS ON 24 HOUR STRIKE ON 23 APRIL - Filenews 17/4
The employees of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus are going on a 24-hour strike on Thursday, April 23, 2026, as stated in a joint letter to the general director of the EAC by the unions EPOPAI, SIDIKEK-EAC, SEPEK and SYBAIK.
In the letter, dated April 17, 2026, the unions state that the decision was taken following their previous letter on March 13, 2026, as well as after the warning work stoppages that took place on February 27 and March 18, without - as they note - any action having been taken by the competent bodies to resolve the serious issues that concern the Energy Sector.
As they point out, the strike will start at midnight on April 22 and will end at midnight on April 23, 2026.
According to the announcement, 50% of the shift staff at the Dhekelia Power Station will also participate in the mobilization.
The unions also state that, due to the seriousness of the situation, the letter is being made public.
The letter is signed by the president of EPOPAI, K. Tafounas, the secretary of SIDIKEK-EAC, D. Konstantinou, the president of SEPAIK, M. Papputis, and the president of SYBAIK, S. Zottis.
The letter is communicated to the President, the Vice-President and the members of the EAC Board of Directors, as well as to the Human Resources Director of the Authority.
