CHECKS FOR FIRECRACKERS AND LAMPBRATZIAS [LAMPS] - INCIDENTS WITH FIRES DURING THE NIGHT - POLICE LOCATED AND COLLECTED TIMBER - Filenews 4/4
Intensified patrols and controls in all provinces by the Police, in order to prevent the use of firecrackers, the lighting of 'lamps' and phenomena of juvenile delinquency.
As part of these actions, Police patrols responded to various incidents of lighting a fire, while in some cases timber was located and received, which was intended for lighting 'lamps'.
In the province of Limassol, during the night, members of the Police responded to three cases of lighting a fire. Two concerned small outbreaks of fire, while the third concerned a fire in two garbage cans. In all cases, the fires were extinguished by members of the Fire Service.
In another case, also in the province of Limassol, members of the Police located wood that had been collected to light a fire. A crew of the local authority was informed, which received the wood.
During the patrols in Limassol, a group of young people riding in motor vehicles was located and stopped. A total of 38 persons were checked, without anything reprehensible to emerge. Another 32 persons, including minors, were located and checked in places where young people gather. In the cases of minors, their parents were notified, who picked them up.
In the province of Nicosia, as part of the actions of the Police, a quantity of timber was found in one case, which was received to be delivered to the local authorities.
Quantities of timber were also detected and received during yesterday in a total of six cases, in the districts of Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca.
The Police continues with an increased presence and targeted actions in all provinces, with the aim of preventing dangerous behaviours and enhancing the safety of citizens, while calling on the public to show responsibility and cooperate with the competent authorities.
