2nd APHRODITE HALF MARATHON - POLIS - 19 APRIL - Pafos Press 18/4
On Sunday, April 19, the 2nd Aphrodite Half Marathon will be held with the starting and finishing point at the Polis Chrysochous City Hall on 25th March Street. The athletic event will host over 1300 runners and includes races of 21km, 10km, 5km and a 1,000m children's race. The Half Marathon (21km) will start at 7:35am, the 10km race will start at 8:15am, the 5km race starts at 8:40am and the races conclude with the children's race which will start at 10:15am.
Due to the sporting event, there will be temporary traffic regulations, mainly in the area near the City Hall but also on Agias Kyriakis, Vergina, Thessallonikis, Evropias, Dios Polieos, Christodoulos Papanikopoulos and Spyrou Kyprianou Streets. At the end of Spyrou Kyprianou Street, runners will enter the E704 motorway towards Argaka where immediately after the community they will make a U-turn to return back along the same route to finish again at the Polis Chrysochous City Hall. The route on the motorway will be open to wheeled vehicles but drivers should be very careful as part of the road surface will be demarcated with safety cones which will be given to runners to run safely. The above roads will be temporarily closed to vehicles (with the exception of the E704 highway to Argaka which will remain open to two-way traffic) from 7:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 19. There will be a gradual opening of the roads depending on the progress of the races, while at the latest by 10:30 a.m. all affected roads will be opened to traffic.
During the above event, all necessary arrangements will be made for the smooth and safe diversion of traffic through adjacent roads. Therefore, the public is requested to comply with the temporary road markings and the instructions of the police officers and volunteers on duty. Our request to the public is that if they need to use the above roads on Sunday, April 19, they should plan to do so either before 7:00 a.m. or after 10:30 a.m.
