YELLOW WEATHER WARNING AGAIN TODAY -ISOLATED STRONG STORMS, INTENSE RAIN AND POSSIBLE HAIL - 11am to 5pm- Pafos Press 23/3


The Meteorology Department has issued a yellow warning for isolated strong storms that are expected to affect the island mainly in inland areas. The intensity of the rain is expected to range between 35 and 50 millimeters per hour, while hail is also possible.

The warning will come into effect from 11:00 until 17:00 on the same day.

According to the weather report from the Meteorology Department, today, the weather will initially be partly cloudy with the possibility of isolated rain, mainly in the western half, however at noon and early in the afternoon it will become mainly cloudy with local rain and isolated storms.

In a storm, hail is likely to fall, while on the highest peaks of Troodos, snow or sleet is expected.

Winds will blow mainly southwest to west, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and the sea will be slightly rough.

The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees inland and on the coast and 5 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy, while isolated rains are possible, mainly on the coast. Winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast, light, 3 Beaufort and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. The temperature will drop to 5 degrees inland, around 9 on the south and east coasts, around 10 on the west and north coasts and 1 degree in the higher mountains, where frost will form locally.
