WINTER WEATHER RETURNS BUT ALSO DUST FROM EGYPT - Filenews 13/3

Low pressure centered in Egypt is moving north and will affect the island from tomorrow. Dust will be suspended in the atmosphere until Sunday, the concentrations of which will be increased from time to time.

Today, the weather will gradually become partly cloudy, mainly from high clouds. Winds will be mainly northeast to southeast, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and locally on the windward coast to strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough to rough. The temperature will rise to around 21 degrees inland and on the coast and to 11 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will become mostly cloudy and isolated rains are expected later, mainly on the south and west coasts. Winds will be mainly northeast, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and later to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough to rough. The temperature will drop to around 11 degrees inland and on the coast and to 4 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost may form locally.

On Saturday, the weather will be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hail may fall in a storm, while sleet or even snow may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. The island will be affected by a strong northeasterly air current. On Sunday, locally increased clouds are expected to give isolated rains and thunderstorms. On Monday, locally increased clouds will be observed.

The temperature on Saturday will drop noticeably, to fluctuate below the average climatic values, while on Sunday it will rise and not change appreciably on Monday.
