The Technical and Vocational School of Education and Training of Paphos organizes a different exhibition and the presentation of a relevant album. It is an exhibition of objects and the presentation of the Album entitled: "Fragments of memory – the voice of small things". The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, April 3 at 7.00pm at the Old Power Plant in the center of Paphos.
These are objects that have been rescued, testifying to the violent flight of refugees during the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the narratives that accompany them. A relevant text of the organizers states: "Small insignificant objects become witnesses, acquire a voice to tell their own story. The story of the hands that held and saved them. Important and insignificant objects, useful, as the condition defined them, perhaps even useless in the passage of time, which, however, fate wanted to become valuable and unique. Charged with the moment of their transport, the thrill of their journey, the memory of their usefulness... Destined, now, to remind of that day and to mark the desire, the anticipation and the hope to return to their original place. Even when their owners are gone..."
The event on April 3 is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of Cyprus and the exhibition will remain open to the public until Monday, April 6. Opening hours daily: 11:00am to 4:00pm.
The proceeds from the sale of the Album will be donated to the School's student support fund.
