THE FIRE BRIGADE IS ON ALERT - FIRE BETWEEN OMODOS AND MANDRIA - Filenews 8/3
A fire broke out on Sunday morning in an area between the communities of Omodos and Mandria, prompting the mobilization of the competent authorities.
According to a report on the Kitasweather page, the fire was detected around 09:45, while despite the fact that the period is considered low risk or fires, the conditions in the area seem to have favoured its rapid spread.
As noted in the post, the fire is attributed to a combination of factors that enhance the development of the front. Among them are the increased fuel due to the presence of a large amount of dead vegetation in the soil, the low humidity combined with the winds prevailing in the area, as well as the morphology of the soil that makes the work of extinguishing difficult.
In the same post, it is pointed out that, based on the current conditions, this year's fire season may be particularly difficult.
