Today, an Agreement was signed between the Ministry of Defense and HELI COMPANY Slovakia for the lease of four aerial firefighting helicopters in view of the 2026 fire season.
On behalf of the Ministry of Defence, the Agreement was signed by the Director of Defence, Mr. Panagiotis Symeou, and on behalf of HELI COMPANY, the CEO, Mr. Dzurus Josef.
The agreement concerns BLACK HAWK firefighting helicopters, which will substantially enhance the operational capabilities of the Republic of Cyprus in the prevention and suppression of forest fires, contributing to the protection of human life and the natural environment.

The duration of the agreement is set from April 1, 2026 until October 31, 2026, with the right to extend for 30 days, if this becomes operationally necessary.
The Ministry of Defence continues to take all necessary measures to enhance preparedness and effective response to fires with regard to firefighting aircraft, taking into account the operational needs of the relevant services.
