REVEALING - CYPRIOT AUTHORITIES KNEW ABOUT A STRIKE BEFORE THE ATTACK ON THE BASES - CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION SPOKE OF A DRONE MOVEMENT - THERE WAS A HIDDEN ALARM - Filenews 7/3 by Fanis Makridis

Well known to the competent services of the Republic of Cyprus was the information that a serious incident was imminent within Cypriot territory, a few days before the outbreak of the drone attack late on Sunday night to early Monday morning (1-2/3).

Services of the Republic, as well as cooperating foreign countries, had a hidden alarm, putting under surveillance persons who were on our island in the days preceding the recent attack on the British Bases.

In fact, reliable information from "F", which cannot be disputed, states that the security authorities of the Republic of Cyprus knew from the middle of last week that there are indications of persons with suspicious activity, who have ties to Iran and possibly to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC – Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps).

Information that had been secured and handled by the Cyprus Police together with a cooperating service stated that there was going to be movement with UAV's, i.e. unmanned aircraft. Although the information was not clear as to what exactly would happen on our island, it was nevertheless clear as to the fact that incidents related to drones on Cypriot soil would follow.

Israeli interests

This information was well known in circles dealing with the field of security on our island, as "F" is informed. In fact, they had been put on alert, after emergency security measures were taken in places of Israeli interests in Cyprus.

The arrests

What we record above is completely identical to the evidence that the Cyprus Police has and which led it to arrest a couple in Larnaca, who are in custody for terrorism offenses. The reason for a 28-year-old Azeri and a 27-year-old Estonian.

Classified information

Secure information from "F" states that the arrest of these two persons came about after an evaluation of classified information that was forwarded to the Police at the end of February and was called to handle the Crime Investigation Department of the Police Headquarters.

Recruited

The information about the alleged couple stated that the 28-year-old had repeatedly travelled to Iran and that there is a reasonable suspicion that he was recruited by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards.

Physical Tracking

In addition, according to sources of "F", the 28-year-old, before being taken to court with his alleged wife for the purpose of issuing a detention order (27/2), had been placed under physical surveillance, which, according to what the Police believe, showed that their action raises suspicions and is identified with agent tactics.

Photos from two points

What the Police allegedly know from their examinations is that the two persons, during their stay in Paphos, Limassol and Larnaca, took a large number of photos of specific places and from various angles.

These points are located in Paphos and have one thing in common. These are places where people of Israeli origin gather.

The investigators of the case are considering the possibility that they sent the photos to a link abroad.

Counter-surveillance measures

Besides, the Police reportedly believe that the 28-year-old had the behaviour of a trained person, who knows how to take counter-surveillance measures. The suspect allegedly followed the methods of people who have engaged the authorities in the recent past for identical cases and covered up his tracks.

Separate bookings

However, another event aroused suspicion among the authorities. The 28-year-old and the 27-year-old, although they presented themselves as a couple of tourists in Cyprus, nevertheless did not book a plane ticket together to come to our island.

Information brought before the Police, moreover, states that the 27-year-old suspect allegedly provides cover for her alleged husband to carry out espionage actions.

In custody

The couple are in custody. He was arrested in Larnaca before his scheduled departure from Cyprus last Friday. At the moment, following a request from the Police and a court order issued last Wednesday, they are under 8-day detention. As part of the police examinations, the personal belongings of the suspects have been received and they are receiving scientific and other examinations.

The 28-year-old is shown to have the same operator as another arrested person

  • The British asked for assistance from the Republic for espionage at the Akrotiri bases

The Cyprus Police, on the basis of the classified information that has recently been forwarded to it, connects the 28-year-old with a specific "mastermind" who had recruited other persons to carry out terrorist acts in favour of Iran's interests.

The 28-year-old suspect who has been in custody since the end of February allegedly had the same operator as the 44-year-old who was arrested on 21/6/2025 again in Cyprus and who is accused of terrorism and espionage. The latter is an Azeri holder of a British passport and had special equipment, photographing, according to the charges he faces, the British bases of Akrotiri, where the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom is based.

In fact, as revealed on November 6 last year by "F", British prosecuting authorities had submitted an official request to the Republic of Cyprus for cooperation in the case of the 44-year-old.

Through the European Union Agency for Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters (Eurojust), they sent their positions in writing requesting the establishment of a Joint Investigation Team to further investigate the case.

We remind you that a case has already been registered for the 44-year-old at the Limassol Criminal Court. Based on the indictment, he is charged with offenses related to espionage. More specifically: (1) espionage, (2) publication of news related to defense projects, (3) entry into a prohibited area and (4) money laundering.

The accused allegedly used an advanced technology camera and his mobile phones. Through them, he allegedly received visual material from the British Akrotiri bases (RAF) and the "Andreas Papandreou" air base at the time when the air and missile strikes between Israel and Iran were in progress.
