JRC - MEETING TO STRENGTHEN CO-ORDINATION IN SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS - KEY OPERATIONAL ISSUES EXAMINED - Filenews 27/3

Strengthening coordination and operational readiness was the focus of a meeting of the National Search and Rescue Coordination Committee, which took place in the morning at the Search and Rescue Coordination Center, in Larnaca, with the participation of the competent state bodies.

According to an announcement by the JCCC, the meeting was attended by the Ministers of Justice and Public Order, Defense and Transport, as well as the Deputy Ministers of Shipping and Migration and International Protection. Also present were the Commander of the KSED, the Chief of the National Guard, the Assistant Chief of the Border Protection Police, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Coordinator of Civil Protection.

During the meeting, key operational issues related to search and rescue, fire response, irregular migration management, surveillance of sea and air areas, as well as marine pollution incidents were discussed.

Particular emphasis was placed on the need for unified coordination of all the services involved, the use of available means and the assurance of an immediate and effective response to complex incidents.

As underlined, the safety and protection of human life is a non-negotiable priority, with the continuous strengthening of cooperation and preparedness being considered crucial for the Search and Rescue system to respond effectively to any challenge.
