FLIGHTS - ISRAEL TO PAPHOS VIA JORDAN - Pafos Live 23/3
The Israeli travel company ISSTA is creating an "air bridge" between Jordan and Cyprus, due to the emergency restrictions on the flight schedule and the number of one hundred passengers on each plane that takes off from or lands in Tel Aviv.
According to the company's announcement, daily flights will be operated from Aqaba Airport in Jordan to Paphos, during the days of Jewish Passover - that is, the period from March 30 to April 8, with the aim of meeting the increased demand for short holidays abroad, at a time when the availability of flights from Israel remains limited.
The initiative is part of a broader trend of adaptation of the aviation market, as reduced activity of foreign airlines in Israel and operational restrictions at the country's main airport are leading to the search for solutions for transporting travellers amid the volatile situation in the Middle East.
At the same time, ISSTA has formulated accommodation packages in Paphos, focusing on hotel units that meet the needs of the Israeli public during the festive season.
ISSTA's business model includes organized land transportation of passengers from Israel to Jordan, facilitation for the issuance of entry visas and full escort until boarding flights from Aqaba. The flights will be operated by Electra Airways.
The use of Aqaba Airport as an alternative hub is not a new practice, but it is gaining increased importance in conditions of geopolitical uncertainty and limited availability of slots in Tel Aviv.
