The Paphos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company continues to invest in innovation and digital transformation, introducing a new dedicated section on the destination's official website, which offers visitors an upgraded "Digital Experience".
The new digital platform aims to enrich the experience of visitors before and during their stay, offering a range of modern tools that highlight in an interactive way the unique cultural, natural and historical heritage of the Paphos district.
Through this new section, visitors can explore impressive 360° virtual tours of major landmarks, archaeological sites, natural landscapes, and villages of the Paphos district. These virtual experiences allow prospective travellers to get to know the destination remotely and better plan their visit.
At the same time, the platform includes audio guides and digital narrative content, offering visitors interesting narratives about important monuments, cultural sites and points of interest in the area. This initiative is part of the overall strategy to strengthen Paphos' position as a Smart and Sustainable Destination, taking advantage of the city's significant distinction as European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023.
The new digital tools aim to improve visitor accessibility, better interpret and understand heritage sites, and enhance the overall visitor experience, while contributing to sustainable tourism management by promoting responsible exploration of the region.
According to the Executive Director of ETAP Paphos, Mr. Nasos Hadjigeorgiou, digitalization is a key pillar of the destination's development strategy. In recent years, the organization has implemented a series of innovative actions, such as the creation of smart applications, the installation of more than 110 interpretation boards with QR codes, digital maps and enriched online content, with the aim of connecting visitors with the rich cultural and natural wealth of the area.
The creation of the Digital Experience module is another important step in the effort to position Paphos as a modern and innovative destination that combines cultural heritage, technology and sustainability.
