In the context of collecting and evaluating evidence and testimonies, members of the Police located in the apartment of a 35-year-old man in Nicosia, a 35-year-old woman who was wanted by the Police in connection with investigated cases of burglary and theft.

The 35-year-old was arrested under the court warrant pending against her, while two bags containing a small amount of amphetamine-like crystalline substance as well as a small amount of dry cannabis plant matter were found in her possession.

At the same time, the 35-year-old owner of the apartment was also arrested, for the self-inflicted crime of the crew after committing a felony.

A search followed in the apartment where a gun was found whose manufacture and origin are being investigated, a shotgun, a number of electric scooters and bicycles, for which they did not give satisfactory explanations regarding their possession.

The two arrested were taken into custody while this morning they are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court for the procedure for issuing a detention order.

Members of the Police stopped a car driven by a 49-year-old man yesterday for a check. During the check, the 49-year-old allegedly pushed a member of the Police in order to escape. However, he was stopped and arrested for a flagrante delicto after previously resisting arrest.

A search followed in the apartment where he lives, in which two other 38-year-old persons were found.

large number of burglary tools, a number of  items of jewellery, mobile phones and various other items were also found inside the apartment, for which the three suspects allegedly refused to give any explanation for their possession.

The above were taken to the offices of the Limassol Police Department for interrogation, and were then arrested on the basis of court warrants and taken into custody.

The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.

As a result of the preventive policing operations, eight persons were arrested for various offenses, such as, among others, burglary and theft, illegal possession of property, illegal stay on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

As part of these operations, during the night, 436 vehicles were stopped for inspection and a total of 585 persons were checked. At the same time, 42 inspections of premises were carried out, during which 5 complaints emerged, with the aim of dealing with phenomena of delinquency.

During traffic checks carried out, 127 complaints were made, concerning various traffic violations. Of these, 57 complaints from drivers for violating the speed limit stand out. vehicle driver was found positive in a preliminary test of driving under the influence of drugs. There were also 139 tests for drunk driving, in which two drivers tested positive. As part of the police examinations, 4 vehicles were detained.

Coordinated policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue daily, with an enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, in order to protect citizens and ensure public order.

At 04:20 in the morning, information was received to the Police about an explosion and fire in a car in the area of Agios Spyridon, in Limassol.

An officer and members of the Limassol Police Department immediately rushed to the scene. On-site examinations revealed that the explosion was due to the detonation of an improvised low-power explosive device, which had been placed under a 45-year-old woman's vehicle.

The explosion caused a fire, as a result of which both the 45-year-old's vehicle and a second vehicle of her relative, which was parked nearby, were damaged.

The examinations on the scene continue.
