A quantity of cannabis resin weighing 36 kilograms was found in the province of Paphos, by YKAN.

The quantity of drugs was found, after an information assessment, on the morning of February 25, 2026, in a tributary bed, on the beach of Akamas. The packages were in a closed package which was received by members of YKAN.

Specifically, 72 smaller, nylon packages were found inside the package. Each package contained five pieces of cannabis resin, with the total weight reaching approximately 36 kilograms.

In the area, where the package was located, extensive searches were carried out without finding anything else.

YKAN continues the examinations.

Around 7.30 yesterday afternoon, members of the MMAD signalled to stop for a check a person who was riding a bicycle on Liopetriou Street in Limassol.

The cyclist failed to stop and tried to escape control, as a result of which he lost his balance and fell to the ground. Immediately, he got up and tried to run away where he was stopped nearby.

He was arrested for a self-inflicted crime and started shouting and pushing the MMAD member, while in the attempt of the MMAD members to handcuff him, he allegedly shouted and resisted.

He was then taken to the Agios Ioannis Police Station, where it was found that he is a 32-year-old man who has been illegally on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus since 3/1/2024.

In a subsequent search, 26 pieces of aluminium foil were found in his possession, which contained cannabis with a total gross weight of approximately 20 grams, 16 pieces of aluminium foil containing methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 9 grams as well as a sum of money of €442.

The 32-year-old was taken into custody while YKAN in collaboration with the Agios Ioannis Police Station continue the examinations.

The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.

As a result of the preventive policing operations, five persons were arrested for various offences, including illegal possession of drugs and illegal stay on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

As part of these operations, during the night, 542 vehicles were stopped for inspection and the drivers as well as 213 persons on board were checked. At the same time, 32 inspections of premises were carried out, with the aim of dealing with phenomena of delinquency, from which 4 complaints emerged.

During traffic checks carried out, 132 complaints arose, concerning various traffic violations, of which 46 driver complaints for exceeding the speed limit stand out.

398 breathalyzer tests were also carried out during which 16 drivers tested positive for driving under the influence of alcohol. Also, as part of the police examinations, 7 vehicles were detained.

Coordinated policing operations, for the prevention and suppression of crime, continue daily, with an increased/enhanced police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing the sense of security of citizens/protecting citizens and ensuring public order.

In new serious revelations about the case of the 61-year-old accountant, who has been in custody since last week, complaints arise about the embezzlement of an even larger amount of money. The suspect, who is accused of embezzling more than €300,000 by her employer company, is also said to be responsible for a new abuse of up to €1.7 million.

According to information from Filenews, during the investigation by the investigative team of the Financial Crime Investigation Office of the TAE Limassol, a new complaint emerged against her. Specifically, a businessman complained that, after an audit of one of the companies managed by the 61-year-old, it was found that the suspect allegedly embezzled the amount of money that reaches €1,7 million.

Based on this new complaint, the investigators proceeded to present the 61-year-old before the Limassol District Court on Friday and requested the renewal of her detention for another 7 days, a request which was accepted by the Court.

As for the 61-year-old's way of acting, as reported in a previous article of "F", the money was allegedly transferred either through remittances to company accounts belonging to relatives of the suspect, or through checks to other persons.

The Police continue to take statements from various persons and a thorough financial investigation is being carried out, which includes the opening of bank accounts, investigations in the Land Registry, as well as in companies directly or indirectly related to the suspect. According to the testimonies collected by the Police, the 61-year-old worked in the accounting department for more than three decades. She denies the accusation of theft or appropriation of money, making various allegations, which are currently being investigated.

The case is assessed as particularly serious, as it concerns a charge of theft by an employee, and the amount allegedly appropriated by the suspect is estimated to exceed €2 million.

The Police arrested a 26-year-old man under a court warrant pending against him in connection with the case of locating more than 230 kilograms of narcotic substances in Nicosia, as well as the detection of a pistol, revolver, explosive devices and a large number of firecrackers.

According to the Police, the 26-year-old was taken into custody and today he is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court for his detention procedure.

The other two persons, aged 34 and 26, were brought before the Nicosia District Court yesterday, which renewed their detention order for another eight days.

In a new road collision that happened around 7.20 yesterday afternoon in Nicosia, Ioannis Nicolaou, 17 years old from Nicosia, lost his life.

Specifically, a car driven by a 54-year-old man on Stavraetou Street in Strovolos, under circumstances investigated by the Police, collided with a motorcycle driven by the unfortunate 17-year-old.

The motorcyclist was transported by ambulance to the Nicosia General Hospital where the doctor on duty certified his death around 8 pm.

The driver of the car was subjected to a breathalyzer test with a final reading of 63μg instead of 22μg which is the maximum limit by the Law and after being arrested, he was taken into custody.

The Nicosia Traffic Police continues the examinations.
