The UK Ministry of Defense announced that last night it managed to shoot down a drone launched from Iran towards Iraq.
"The engagement took place while RAF Typhoons and F-35 aircraft continued to carry out defensive missions across the region," it said.
The ministry adds that it plans to send a Merlin helicopter to enhance its ability to detect aviation threats.
This aerial vehicle can fly up to a mile in altitude, providing early warning of incoming drones or missiles.
