After a very successful concert in October Aleksandra Smirnova (soprano), Maria Avraam (piano, flute) and Stavros Savva (accordion) present once again the a concert dedicated to French music and poetry in the warm atmosphere of Technopolis 20, on Wednesday 1st of April, at 7pm.

The concert program will feature charming miniatures for piano and voice by Fauré and Debussy. We will walk through the ruins of an abbey and listen to "the cool echoes mingled with the wind." We will witness a stunning sunset, reflect on our life and then be enchanted by the starry night, lulled by dreams filled with cherished imagery. You will also hear arrangements of Greek songs by Ravel — pieces where the beauty of folklore blends with the elegance of impressionist harmonies. From there, we will gently drift into Greek and Cypriot melodies, brought to life by voice and piano, as well as by flute and accordion with melodies that emerged from folklore elements.

Soprano: Aleksandra Smirnova | Piano-flute: Maria Avraam | Accordion: Stavros Savva

A few words about the musicians

Maria Avraam, a flutist and pianist. Frequently she participates in concerts with chamber music ensembles and choirs, as well as performing as a soloist. Her interest in contemporary music led her to perform in concerts and festivals dedicated exclusively to contemporary music, such as the "Artos Contemporary Music Festival," the "7th International Contemporary Music Festival," and others. She has also presented Cypriot and world premieres of works in collaboration with the "Centre of Cypriot Composers". She lives and works in Paphos, where she performs in concerts, participating in festivals and other events in the city.

Aleksandra Smirnova, a Russian soprano with a rich and clear voice, is a passionate interpreter of both classical works and contemporary compositions, with a deep love for the French language and music. She received her initial education in violin, piano, and singing classes. However, she later chose to pursue higher education in the field of languages while maintaining her love for music. After studying languages, she decided to study in the field of opera singing. Now she takes advantage of both educations to successfully perform arias, romances and songs in different languages.

Stavros Savva began his musical journey with the piano as his primary instrument. Over time, his explorations and desire to delve into various genres of music led him to learn additional instruments such as the accordion, guitar, and other stringed instruments. His primary goal is to express the authenticity and essence that defines a song or instrumental piece, striving to achieve this through appropriate orchestrations, depending on the ensemble or band he is involved with. His influences and musical experiences span a wide range, including classical music, traditional music as well as the developments in rock and electronic music. Additionally, his extended stays in Greece and Italy have had a direct impact on his style and diversity as a musician, allowing him to experience the traditions of each region up close.
