ALERT FOR 84 PRODUCTS - BABY ITEMS, COSMETIC PRODUCTS, TOYS, CARS AND MOTORCYCLES ON DANGER LIST - Filenews 30/3
According to the Safety Gate System, 84 products present a risk to consumer safety, including baby items, cosmetics, toys, cars and motorcycles.
In a relevant announcement, the Consumer Protection Authority states that 84 products that present a risk to health and safety have been notified to the Safety Gate System (the EU early warning system for non-food products).
These products were spotted in the markets of various European Union member states and then notified to the Safety Gate System for consumer information.
The 84 products were allocated, for the purpose of controlling the Cypriot market, to the following competent government authorities:
- Consumer Protection Service: 23 products
- Department of Electromechanical Services: 26 products
- Department of Road Transport: 20 products
- Pharmaceutical Services Department: 8 products
Department of Labour Inspection: 7 products

All information on the 84 products notified this week, as well as the competent authorities concerned by them, can be seen in the attached table. Consumers can also refer directly to the Safety Gate website to search for all products that have been notified to the system and get relevant information to avoid using them. It is noted that the Safety Gate website is also provided in Greek.
The Consumer Protection Service invites economic operators, in case they place or have placed these products on the market, to immediately notify the respective competent authority.
Furthermore, it calls on consumers, in case they own the above products, where appropriate, to stop using them, return them to the store from which they have purchased them and inform the respective competent authority.
