The autonomy of the province of Paphos from Limassol in the field of health is now one step closer. After the finalization of the actions for the construction of the new Polis Chrysochous Hospital, the Government, according to cross-checked information of "F", is also "full" for the appointment of an Executive Director of the Paphos Hospital. A move that is a prerequisite for achieving this autonomy, as the provincial authorities have been calling for for years.
The issue is already occupying the Parliament, with the executive director of OKYPY having recently informed the Health Committee about the inclusion in the budget of the Organization of the position of executive director in the province of Paphos. To date, the structures of OKYPY in the Paphos district operate under the executive director based in Limassol.
The issue was also raised by the MPs of Paphos before President Christodoulides and the Minister of Health during the meeting at the Presidential Palace in which the President of the Republic officially announced the construction of the new Hospital in Polis Chrysochous. The issue was also viewed by Mr. Christodoulidis with a very positive attitude and as an urgent necessity, stressed the MP of Paphos of DIKO, Chrysanthos Savvidis, speaking to "F".
We are now facing substantial developments, he stressed, which will enhance administrative efficiency and allow for better management and supervision of hospitals in the Paphos district.
This decision creates the conditions for upgrading the infrastructure, improving the quality of the health services provided and overall strengthening of the public health system in Paphos, he says. At the same time, it is a decisive step in the direction of the administrative autonomy of Paphos Hospital, a claim that has been going on for years and is now starting to take shape.
We continue with consistency and responsibility the efforts for a modern, effective and quality health system that meets the needs of the citizens of Paphos, concluded Mr. Savvidis.
