YELLOW WEATHER WARNING IN PLACE TODAY UNTIL 6am TOMORROW

A yellow warning for a combination of rains and isolated thunderstorms that will affect the island from time to time, has been issued by the Department of Meteorology.

The warning will take effect from 6:00 am today (13/02) and will last until 6 am the next day (14/02).

As reported, hail may fall in a storm and the winds may strengthen.

The total rainfall locally, mainly in the western half of the island, may exceed 55 mm per 24 hours and the intensity of the rain 35 mm per hour.

The forecast in detail
Low pressure begins to affect the area. Dust will be observed in the atmosphere until tonight.
Today the weather will be cloudy with rain and local thunderstorms, while snow or sleet may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. In case of a storm, hail may fall. Winds will be mainly south to southwest, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and temporarily to very strong, 6 Beaufort. The sea will be rough to wavy. The temperature will rise to around 16 degrees inland, 18 on the coast and 6 degrees in the higher mountains. 
On Saturday the weather will be partly cloudy and isolated rains or even an isolated storm are expected with the phenomena gradually receding. On Sunday the weather will be mostly clear with locally increased low clouds, while on Monday it will be mostly clear. 
The temperature will gradually rise until Monday to fluctuate above the average climatic values.
