Filenews 13 February 2026
Every year, on February 22nd, Scouts around the world commemorate World Scout Day, on the occasion of the birth of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, founder of Scouting. This day is dedicated to the values of giving, active participation and responsibility towards society and the environment.

On the occasion of this year's anniversary, the Scouts of Cyprus (SCC) is implementing a series of symbolic and local awareness-raising activities, which will take place simultaneously in all the districts of Cyprus, with the participation of Scout Systems and volunteers.
This year's actions focus on highlighting the value of forests and the protection of the natural environment, especially in urban space, where everyday life often takes us away from nature. Through simple interventions and information actions, the Scouts seek to send a clear message of awareness to the citizens.

This initiative is carried out taking into account the recent fires that hit our island and aligns with the wider efforts to cultivate environmental awareness, especially among young people.
The Scouts of Cyprus, with a presence in every neighbourhood and community, continues to prove its social role in practice, encouraging participation, responsibility and active citizenship.

The actions will be implemented in various places throughout Cyprus. The CPC is available to the media for any additional information.
The SPK calls on the media and the public to support and highlight the message of World Scout Day, honouring the scouting spirit through action and offering.
