THE ESTIA PLAN IS ACTIVATED FOR THE CONFLAGRATION IN THE MIDDLE EAST - Filenews 28/2
The Special National Plan ESTIA activates the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the rapid escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
As stated in an official announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the latest developments in the region, the Ministerial Crisis Management Team, which consists of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Justice and Public Order, decided to activate the Special National Plan ESTIA. The decision concerns the possibility of the need to receive and repatriate third-country nationals from areas in crisis, through the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
At the same time, according to the Ministry, the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Cyprus are closely monitoring the situation on the ground, with particular emphasis on the safety and information of Cypriot citizens in the wider region.
The Special National Plan ESTIA is the National Action Plan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is implemented in cases of emergency or crisis, with the aim of facilitating the safe evacuation of citizens from crisis areas, mainly from the Middle East, through Cyprus.
